Nigel Hall RA
Early Drawings
Early drawings from 1964/65 formed part of a large retrospective of Nigel's works at Galerie Scheffel in October 2007...'Other Voices, Other Rooms.' Interiors with hanging wires, lightbulbs, pipes, matchsticks and animated plumbing; fabric furnishings, geometrical solids floating and fixed, and amongst these are solitary figures. These slightly surreal works are a mix of real and imagined pieces and places, repeated in other drawings. The use of colour and texture are in contrast to Nigel's present day drawings. Images of isolation, the contrast of rooms in a state of mess and tidiness, people looking in, all have a feel about the life we have found ourselves in during the 2020s.
